Elkin Pediatric & Adult Medicine, a longtime healthcare provider serving the Elkin community, is set to join Piedmont HealthCare beginning July 1, 2026.

Piedmont HealthCare announced the transition, which will bring Elkin Pediatric & Adult Medicine into its physician-owned network while maintaining the same local providers and patient care families have relied on for more than 25 years.

Elkin Pediatric & Adult Medicine has served the Yadkin River Valley since 1999, offering care for patients of all ages, including wellness visits, pediatric care, women’s health services, chronic disease management, immunizations, sports physicals, and in-office lab and X-ray services.

Officials say the partnership will allow patients to maintain continuity of care while gaining expanded access to a broader network of independent physicians and specialists across the region.

“This is an exciting step for our patients and community,” said Dr. Alvaro Castillejo. “Elkin Pediatric & Adult Medicine has been a staple healthcare provider in Elkin for decades, and that commitment to compassionate, hometown care is not changing.”

Dr. Stephen Walker, founding physician of Elkin Pediatric & Adult Medicine, said the move strengthens the practice’s ability to provide high-quality, patient-focused care while preserving its local identity.

Insurance coverage will remain largely unchanged, though some plans may differ after the transition. Patients are encouraged to review in-network providers or contact their insurance carrier for details ahead of the July 1, 2026 change.

Officials emphasized that patients will continue seeing the same providers and staff, with care remaining focused on the local community while gaining the resources of a larger physician network.
