Iredell County Traffic Stop Leads to Felon-in-Possession Firearm Arrest

A routine traffic stop in Iredell County led to the arrest of a convicted felon on multiple drug and weapons charges, according to Sheriff Darren Campbell.

On Thursday, June 25th, 2026, Deputy C. Wilson with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Harmony Highway and Hunting Creek Road. The driver was identified as Joseph Ricky White.

During the stop, deputies determined White was operating a vehicle while his driver’s license was revoked. Deputies also observed an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle in plain view.

A subsequent search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of illegal narcotics and a handgun. Investigators later determined White was a convicted felon, making him prohibited from possessing a firearm under state law.

White was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.

He later appeared before Magistrate Nicholson, who charged him with felony possession of a firearm by a felon, misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, misdemeanor simple possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug

paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor careless and reckless driving, and driving while license revoked.

Magistrate Nicholson issued a $12,000 secured bond.
