Iredell Sheriff's Office Accepting Applications for 2026 Teen Academy

The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for its 2026 Teen Academy, a summer program designed to help local teenagers develop life skills, build confidence, and establish positive relationships with law enforcement.
The academy consists of 10 sessions beginning July 7 and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The program was created by Sheriff Darren Campbell and focuses on helping teens navigate many of the challenges they face in today's world. Topics include peer pressure, bullying, social media, texting, drug awareness, and the transition from middle school to high school.
Throughout the academy, students will participate in hands-on demonstrations, interactive activities, and real-world learning experiences designed specifically for teenagers. Organizers say the program combines practical learning with engaging instruction to help participants develop skills that can be applied in everyday life.
The academy also provides teens with the opportunity to interact directly with deputies and other members of law enforcement, fostering friendships and positive relationships that often continue long after the program concludes. Positive adult role models and mentorship are key components of the program's mission.
