Man Faces Multiple Drug Charges After Iredell County Traffic Stop

A Conover man is facing multiple felony drug charges after an evening traffic stop in southern Iredell County.


According to Iredell County Sheriff's Office Sheriff Darren Campbell, the incident happened at approximately 7:20 p.m. Friday, April 17, when Deputy J. Raper with the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Charlotte Highway and Shepherd Road.


During the stop, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle after further investigation. Authorities say the search uncovered methamphetamine, pills, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.


The driver, identified as 53-year-old Dairel Odas Dugger Jr. of Conover, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.


Dugger was later given a $150,000 secured bond and charged with:


  • Felony possession of methamphetamine

  • Felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance

  • Felony trafficking opium or heroin by possession

  • Felony trafficking opium or heroin by transportation

  • Felony maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance

  • Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia


Sheriff Campbell said the arrest reflects the continued work of deputies to hold offenders accountable and keep illegal drugs out of Iredell County.
