Sex Offender Registration Violation Leads to Arrest

A Winston-Salem man was arrested on June 23, 2026, on charges related to failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

Gregory Dreux Crateau, 48, was taken into custody and served with a warrant issued on March 26, 2026, for failure to register as a sex offender with the Davie County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, Crateau was previously convicted on September 12, 2016, of four counts of indecent liberties with a minor. He was released from the North Carolina Department of Corrections on June 9, 2022, and later returned to custody in 2025 before being released again on March 10, 2026.

Officials state that Crateau had previously registered as a sex offender in Davie County and acknowledged the legal requirement to update his registration within three business days of any address change or release from incarceration.

Following his arrest, Crateau was booked into the Forsyth County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 9, 2026.
