The City of Statesville will begin installing traffic calming measures on Museum Road after residents raised concerns about speeding in the area.

A traffic analysis was conducted along Museum Road between South Chipley Ford Road and Kenmore Drive. Following a review of the collected data, city officials determined the roadway qualified for traffic calming improvements aimed at increasing safety for both residents and motorists.

The City’s Engineering and Public Works departments selected a modular speed hump system for the project. Officials say the system can be removed if necessary for emergency response situations or future road maintenance work.

Installation is expected to begin this week, with temporary one-lane traffic patterns in place during construction.

Installation Schedule

  • Tuesday, May 12, 2026: Crews will survey locations for speed humps.

  • Wednesday through Friday, May 13–15, 2026: Installation of speed humps and related signage will take place.

City officials say the project is part of an ongoing effort to improve safety in neighborhoods across Statesville. Residents and drivers are encouraged to use caution while traveling through the work zone and should expect minor traffic delays during installation.
