Statesville Man Killed in Head-On Crash in Iredell County

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A Statesville man was killed in a Friday night crash, May 1, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded at approximately 8:20 p.m. to Whites Farm Road near Ingram Road in Iredell County. Investigators say a 2013 Ford Edge traveling south crossed the centerline and struck a northbound 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle head-on.

The motorcycle rider, 57-year-old Michael Alan Gandy of Statesville, died at the scene from his injuries.

The driver of the Ford, a 17-year-old male from Statesville, was not injured in the crash.

According to the preliminary investigation, impairment does not appear to be a factor. However, speed is being considered as a contributing cause of the collision. Charges are pending following consultation with the Iredell County District Attorney’s Office.
