Traffic Stop Leads to Fentanyl Arrest in Iredell County

A late-night traffic stop in Iredell County led to the arrest of a Woodleaf man on multiple charges, including felony drug possession.

The driver was identified as 47-year-old Todd Junior Rupard of Woodleaf. During the stop, deputies determined Rupard was driving with a revoked license and without liability insurance. Deputy Raper arrived on the scene to assist.
A search of the vehicle uncovered drug paraphernalia, and deputies also located a bag containing a powdery substance. Authorities say Rupard identified the substance as fentanyl.
Rupard was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. He faces charges of Felony Possession of Fentanyl, Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While License Revoked.
Magistrate Thompson found probable cause for the charges. Due to Rupard already being out on bond for unrelated charges in another jurisdiction, he was issued no bond.
