An Iredell County traffic stop led to multiple felony drug charges after deputies reportedly discovered methamphetamine, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia during an investigation earlier this week.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a silver Mercedes-Benz near the Dollar General located at 2013 Charlotte Highway on May 26 at approximately 1:23 p.m. Deputies said the vehicle displayed a fictitious registration plate in the rear window.
Investigators identified the driver as 30-year-old Trevor Austin Strawn of Charlotte. Authorities also determined Strawn was driving with a suspended license.
During the traffic stop, deputies reportedly located drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. A search of Strawn’s person allegedly uncovered methamphetamine and cocaine concealed on his body.
Authorities said deputies seized approximately 11.64 grams of methamphetamine, 0.53 grams of cocaine, and cash believed to be connected to narcotics sales.
Strawn was charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of cocaine, felony maintaining a vehicle for the sale of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He also received citations for driving while license revoked, no liability insurance, and displaying a fictitious registration plate.
The Sheriff’s Office said Strawn was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where a magistrate issued a no-bond order after learning he was already out on bond for previous charges.
According to investigators, Strawn’s criminal history includes prior convictions and charges involving impaired driving, possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, larceny of a motor vehicle, probation violations, attempted breaking and entering, and other offenses.
The investigation remains ongoing.
