Woman Charged After Gasoline Assault

An Iredell County woman is facing criminal charges after deputies say she sprayed gasoline on another person and their vehicle during an altercation outside a Statesville convenience store.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a convenience store on Island Ford Road after receiving a report of an assault. The victim told deputies that during a verbal confrontation in the parking lot, a woman allegedly sprayed gasoline on both the victim and the victim's truck before leaving the scene.

Deputies interviewed witnesses and reviewed surveillance video from the business, which investigators say captured the incident.

The case was assigned to Detective D. Geiken, who identified the suspect as Christina Dawn Hatcher, 37, of Statesville.

Following the investigation, Detective Geiken obtained warrants charging Hatcher with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor injury to personal property.

Authorities said Hatcher was later served with the Iredell County warrants while being held at the Alexander County Detention Center on unrelated charges.

Magistrate M.D. Simms set Hatcher's bond at $10,000 secured.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Hatcher is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
