BERMUDA RUN, N.C. — A Bermuda Run man has been arrested and a second suspect remains wanted following an investigation into the theft of more than $1,000 worth of decorative plants from a residential greenhouse, according to the Davie County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation began on May 28, 2026, when deputies responded to a report of a past larceny at a residence in the 200 block of Ivy Circle. The case was assigned to the community officer responsible for the Bermuda Run area, who worked alongside patrol deputies to investigate the incident.
According to investigators, more than $1,000 worth of decorative plants were stolen from a greenhouse located behind the residence. Deputies obtained surveillance footage from the property and reportedly observed two men entering the greenhouse and disabling security cameras on multiple nights before the theft was discovered.
Through the investigation, deputies identified one of the suspects as Aaron Aragon, 49, of the 200 block of Ivy Circle in Bermuda Run. Authorities obtained warrants charging Aragon with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and Felony Conspiracy.
Investigators also discovered that Aragon was already on supervised post-release supervision through the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections stemming from a felony larceny conviction in 2024.
Aragon was arrested without incident later that same day in Bermuda Run. In addition to the new criminal charges, he was served with a post-release violation. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond on the new charges and held without bond on the post-release violation.
Aragon is scheduled to appear in Davie County District Court on June 11, 2026.
Deputies later identified the second suspect as Robert Vermeulen, 30, of Lexington. Vermeulen has been charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and Felony Conspiracy. Authorities say warrants have been issued for his arrest, and he remains wanted.
The Davie County Sheriff's Office credited the Department of Adult Corrections, including Davie County Probation and Parole, for assisting with the investigation.
Anyone with information regarding Vermeulen's whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Davie County Sheriff's Office.
