Drugs Discovered Hidden at Alexander County Courthouse, Two Arrested

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — Two Taylorsville residents are facing charges after an investigation into suspicious items left on the grounds of the Alexander County Courthouse led officers to the discovery of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
According to authorities, officers received an anonymous tip on the morning of June 2, 2026, reporting that an individual had placed an unknown item beneath a bush located at the courthouse.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the area and observed an item being concealed under the bush. A short time later, a backpack was also reportedly placed at the same location. Officers recovered both items and discovered fentanyl and drug paraphernalia inside.
Following their investigation, officers identified the individuals seen in the surveillance footage as Hannah Lorraine Tedder, 38, and Caleb Levi Garland, 39, both of Taylorsville.
Tedder was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Littering of Hazardous Waste. She is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond. Her first court appearance is scheduled for June 8, 2026.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the circumstances that led to the items being left on courthouse property. The investigation remains ongoing.
