A former Town Clerk for the Town of Cooleemee is facing multiple felony charges following a Davie County grand jury indictment earlier this month.
On January 12, 2026, a Davie County Grand Jury returned true bills of indictment against Aaron Michael Thies, charging him with two Class C felony counts and one Class F felony count of embezzlement by a public officer.
Thies was arrested on January 26, 2026, by the Davie County Sheriff’s Office. He was issued a $25,000 secured bond.
The case was investigated by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s Financial Crime Investigations Unit.
Authorities say no additional information is available at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
