STATESVILLE, N.C. — Construction continues to move steadily forward on two major public safety infrastructure projects in downtown Statesville, with both the Statesville Police Department Expansion and the adjacent Parking Garage remaining on schedule.

Recent progress at the construction site includes the installation of a fence screen surrounding the project area, a move intended to improve the appearance of the site while enhancing safety for workers and the public.

Work on the new Parking Garage has reached several key milestones. Parking space striping has been completed on all levels except the lower level, bringing the structure closer to becoming operational. Project officials say the second elevator is expected to arrive this week, and the overall garage project remains on track for completion in July.

Meanwhile, significant construction activity continues at the Statesville Police Department Expansion. Exterior walls have now been installed and sheathed, creating a more defined structure as crews shift focus to interior work. Framing of interior walls is underway, while HVAC installation continues throughout the building. Approximately 60 to 65 percent of the ductwork has been completed, and electrical contractors are preparing for rough-in work across the facility.

Another major component of the project, the new Police Department Call Center, is nearing completion. HVAC technicians are currently onsite installing heating and air conditioning units while finishing rough-in work. Overhead electrical rough-in is nearly complete, and officials anticipate the call center will be finished within the next one to two weeks.

The expansion project is designed to provide modernized facilities for the Statesville Police Department, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the department's ability to serve the growing community. Combined with the new parking garage, the project represents a significant investment in public safety infrastructure and downtown accessibility.

With construction continuing on multiple fronts, city officials say both projects remain on schedule and are steadily progressing toward completion.
