Registered Sex Offender Arrested at Mooresville Park Near Playground

Sheriff Darren Campbell says an investigation led to the arrest of a registered sex offender found inside a Mooresville park just feet from areas where children were present.
On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received information that 33-year-old Takim Lashawn Holmes, a registered sex offender, was present at Mazeppa Park in Mooresville. Authorities also confirmed Holmes was wanted on multiple outstanding felony sex offender violation warrants.
Detective B. Padgett of the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit, along with Deputy T. Cinque, responded to Mazeppa Park to investigate the report. Upon arrival, deputies located Holmes inside the park approximately 300 feet from a playground where multiple children were present.
Holmes was taken into custody at the scene. During the arrest, deputies also reported finding him in possession of marijuana.
Following his arrest, Holmes was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was served with his outstanding warrants. He was additionally charged with felony sex offender at/near child premises, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Holmes is being held at the Iredell County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond set by District Court Judge J. Conley.
