Stolen Trailer Investigation Leads to Four Arrests in Alexander County

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — A report of a trailer blocking a resident's driveway led to the recovery of stolen property and the arrest of four individuals in Alexander County.


According to authorities, deputies responded on May 31, 2026, to investigate a trailer that had been parked in a manner that obstructed access to a resident's driveway. During the investigation, deputies determined the trailer had been reported stolen.


As a result of the investigation, four individuals were arrested and charged.

Matthew Blair Richie, 33, of Taylorsville, was charged with Felony Possession of Stolen Property, Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering, and Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer. Richie remains in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $35,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was held June 1.


Katelyn Marie Omans, 24, of Taylorsville, was charged with Felony Possession of Stolen Property, Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana up to One-Half Ounce, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer. Omans is currently being held without bond. She made her first court appearance on June 1.

Bailey Marie Nichols, 25, of Hiddenite, was charged with Felony Aid and Abet and Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer. Nichols was initially held under an $11,500 secured bond but has since been released after posting bond. Her first court appearance was June 1.

Thomas Lee Sherrill, 33, of Hiddenite, was charged with Felony Aid and Abet and Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer. Sherrill was initially held under a $22,000 secured bond and has since bonded out. His first court appearance was also held June 1.


Authorities have not released additional details regarding the theft investigation. The case remains under review as it moves through the court system.


All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
