Taylorsville Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Firearm Arrest

A traffic stop in Taylorsville led to the arrest of a Miami man facing felony firearm and drug-related charges, according to the Alexander County Sheriff's Office.
On the evening of June 15, 2026, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 16 South in Taylorsville. During the stop, deputies reported locating a firearm, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
The driver was identified as 23-year-old Steeve Emmanuel Jeancharles of Miami.
Jeancharles was arrested and charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon, misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
He is currently being held at the Alexander County Detention Center under a $1,000,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for June 29, 2026.
Authorities have not released further details, and the investigation remains ongoing.
