Statesville, N.C. — Two people have been arrested following a child welfare investigation that led to the discovery of illegal drugs and multiple firearms at a Statesville residence, according to authorities.

On May 28, 2026, investigators with the Statesville Police Department responded to a home in the 500 block of Valley Street for a follow-up welfare check involving a juvenile.

Before arriving, investigators received an anonymous tip alleging narcotics were being stored inside the residence and that a juvenile living there may have been in danger. Investigators coordinated with the Iredell County Department of Social Services, and DSS personnel accompanied law enforcement to the scene.

Upon arrival, investigators made contact with the resident, identified as 23-year-old Dylan Matthew Truitt, the father of the juvenile.

While inside the residence, investigators reported observing drug paraphernalia along with an unsecured firearm that was reportedly accessible to the child. Based on those observations, investigators obtained and executed a search warrant.

During the search, law enforcement recovered multiple firearms, approximately 27.3 grams of cocaine, and additional drug paraphernalia.

Authorities confirmed that two individuals were arrested as a result of the investigation. The case remains under review, and no further details have been released at this time.
