IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Two Statesville men are facing multiple felony charges following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office that linked them to a burglary in progress and several additional break-ins in the Blackwelder Road area.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on June 8 to a reported breaking and entering in progress at a residence on Blackwelder Road. The homeowner reported seeing two men leaving the property with a wagon containing stolen tools after a shed had been broken into. Investigators said one of the suspects allegedly threatened the homeowner with a knife before both fled the scene.
Through witness statements and investigative work, deputies identified the suspects as 20-year-old Donald Charles Lawson Jr. and 24-year-old Jesse John Anderson, both of Statesville.
Authorities said Lawson later returned to the area and was taken into custody. During his arrest, deputies allegedly found him in possession of methamphetamine. Anderson was later located nearby and taken into custody without incident.
Detectives said both suspects were also linked to multiple burglaries and thefts reported in the Blackwelder Road community throughout April.
Lawson faces multiple charges including three counts of second-degree burglary, attempted burglary, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of methamphetamine, assault with a deadly weapon, communicating threats, and misdemeanor larceny. He received a $150,000 secured bond.
Anderson faces charges including three counts of second-degree burglary, attempted burglary, larceny after breaking and entering, and misdemeanor larceny. He received a $75,000 secured bond.
Sheriff Darren Campbell said the arrests helped resolve several break-ins that had impacted residents in the Blackwelder Road community.
