A Cleveland man is facing multiple charges following a reported domestic disturbance earlier this week.

According to the Cleveland Police Department, officers were dispatched during the early morning hours of February 18, 2026, to the Phifer Street area in reference to a domestic disturbance.

After speaking with the individuals involved and conducting an on-scene investigation, officers developed a suspect and made an arrest.

Police say Jerry Lamont Ellis was taken into custody and charged with assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor child abuse.

Ellis was transported before a Rowan County Magistrate, where he was issued no bond.

The incident remains under investigation.

In a statement, the department emphasized that the safety of residents in Cleveland remains a top priority and encouraged anyone experiencing domestic violence or related concerns to seek assistance and contact law enforcement if needed.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
