Ford is issuing a new safety recall affecting thousands of vehicles nationwide, citing a potential fire risk.
Ford has announced a recall involving vehicles equipped with an engine block heater that could crack and allow engine coolant to leak. If coolant reaches electrical components while the heater is plugged in, it could create a short circuit and increase the risk of a fire.
The recall affects certain Ford and Lincoln models from recent model years. Ford is advising owners not to plug in or use the engine block heater until repairs are made.
Dealers will replace the affected block heater at no cost to vehicle owners. Drivers are urged to watch for warning signs such as coolant leaks, a burning smell, smoke, or engine overheating.
Ford says notification letters will be sent to affected owners, and repairs will be completed once replacement parts are available.
Drivers can check whether their vehicle is included in the recall by entering their VIN on Ford’s recall website or by contacting their local dealership.
