Hiddenite Woman Arrested on Identity Theft, Fraud Charges

A Hiddenite woman is facing a slew of charges following her arrest earlier this week on allegations of identity theft and financial fraud.


According to the Newton Police Department, 38-year-old Sarah Emily Robbins, of Red Mun Run Lane in Hiddenite, was taken into custody Monday, February 23. Robbins is charged with identity theft, financial card theft, financial card fraud, and obtaining property by false pretense.


Court records show the charges are filed under case number 26CR240366-170 in Newton District Court. Her specific charges and details include:


  • Identity Theft – Bond: $3,000 – 2/24/2026

  • Financial Card Fraud (Misdemeanor)

  • Financial Card Theft

  • Obtain Property by False Pretense


Authorities allege Robbins unlawfully used another person’s identifying and financial information for personal gain.


Following her arrest, Robbins was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $3,000 bond. She appeared in District Court today. The investigation is ongoing, and police urge anyone with additional information to contact the Newton Police Department.
