IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Iredell County continues to deal with the impacts of last weekend’s winter storm, with schools remaining closed Tuesday and several government offices adjusting operations due to lingering icy conditions.
City offices in Troutman, Mooresville, and Statesville remain closed as crews continue cleanup efforts and monitor road conditions. Iredell-Statesville Schools also announced they will remain closed, citing safety concerns related to untreated roads, lingering ice, and cold temperatures.
While main roads have gradually improved, officials say many secondary and residential streets remain slick, particularly during early morning and overnight hours when refreezing is possible. Drivers are urged to use caution and limit travel if possible.
Looking Ahead: Weekend Forecast
The extended forecast shows continued cold weather through the week, with temperatures remaining below average. Highs are expected to stay in the 30s, with overnight lows falling into the teens and low 20s.
There is also a chance for additional winter precipitation this weekend, including the possibility of snow. While exact amounts remain uncertain, forecasters say even light accumulation could create hazardous travel conditions given the cold ground temperatures.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed, check local updates, and continue taking precautions as recovery from the storm continues. Officials also remind residents to check on neighbors, protect pets, and prepare for continued cold weather.
