One man is facing charges after deputies responded to a disturbance involving underage drinking and drugs at a home in Iredell County.
According to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell, deputies were called to a residence on Tennessee Circle around 11:00 p.m. on March 2nd after receiving reports that multiple individuals inside the home were causing damage and refusing to leave.
When deputies arrived, they could hear loud music coming from the residence as they began making contact with those inside. Authorities say several juveniles and young adults were seen leaving the home as deputies cleared the property.
During the investigation, deputies found numerous open alcoholic beverages throughout the downstairs area and detected a strong odor of marijuana. THC products and drug paraphernalia were also located inside the residence. Investigators determined that several individuals present were under the age of 18, and additional juveniles were identified outside the home.
As a result of the investigation, Yash Vaidya was arrested and charged with three counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate Johnson ordered he be held without bond due to pending charges.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office says incidents involving underage drinking and drug use pose serious safety concerns and can quickly escalate into dangerous situations. Deputies are urging parents and guardians to stay involved in their children’s activities and be aware of gatherings where alcohol or drugs may be present.
