Missing Teen Search Continues

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities in Rowan County are continuing their search for a missing juvenile, and investigators are asking the public for help as the case remains active.
According to information released by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, 13-year-old Johnathan Morales was reported missing after leaving his residence on Sylvan Road on December 26, 2025. He has not returned home since.
Investigators say Johnathan is considered a runaway juvenile. As the search has continued, officials have received information indicating he may have previously been in the Gastonia area and is now believed to be in the Charlotte region.
Authorities also note that Johnathan may have recently changed his appearance. He is believed to have cut his hair, with it now described as short on the sides and longer on top. The most recent photograph of Johnathan is included in the information released to the public.
Multiple agencies are assisting in the ongoing investigation, including state and federal partners along with local law enforcement. Officials say tips from the public remain critical as the search continues.
