DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. — A Mocksville man already facing a Driving While Impaired charge was arrested again Friday night after deputies say he drove through a driver’s license checkpoint while his license was suspended.
According to the Davie County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were conducting a checkpoint around 11:15 p.m. on May 15 at U.S. Highway 158 and Buck Miller Road. At approximately 11:50 p.m., 41-year-old Jose Luis Arroyo Jr. of Blue Bonnett Court in Mocksville approached the checkpoint operating a 2022 Kawasaki EXZ650 motorcycle.
Investigators determined Arroyo had previously been arrested for Driving While Impaired on May 12, 2026. As a result of that arrest, his driver’s license had been suspended and he was under a court order prohibiting him from operating a motor vehicle unless properly licensed.
Arroyo was arrested and charged with:
Driving While License Revoked
Impaired – No Motorcycle Endorsement
He was transported to the Davie County Detention Center where he received a $3,000 secured bond on the new charges. Authorities say a magistrate also revoked Arroyo’s previous $15,000 bond connected to the earlier DWI charge and increased it to a $45,000 secured bond for violating an active court order.
Arroyo is scheduled to appear in Davie County District Court on June 18, 2026.
