SALISBURY — A North Carolina community came together last week to celebrate a life-changing milestone for a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and his family.
Under sunny skies on June 17, Marine Corps Corporal William "Will" Higgins IV and his family were presented with a mortgage-free home through a partnership between Freedom Alliance, U.S. Bank, and Adams Homes. The special event marked the beginning of a new chapter as the Higgins family officially relocated from Idaho to Rowan County.
Friends, neighbors, fellow veterans, community leaders, and supporters gathered to welcome the family and celebrate the occasion, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and appreciation for Higgins' military service and sacrifice.
The Salisbury Police Department was among those in attendance and expressed its pride in supporting the veteran and his family as they become part of the local community.
"This was a wonderful opportunity to support a veteran and welcome his family to Rowan County," Salisbury Police officials said. "We are always honored to recognize and support those who have served our country."
The home was made possible through Freedom Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting military families, working alongside U.S. Bank and Adams Homes to provide the mortgage-free residence.
Community members praised the collaborative effort, which not only provided housing for a deserving veteran but also demonstrated the strong support network available to military families throughout the region.
As Corporal Higgins and his family settle into their new home, local leaders say they are excited to welcome them to Rowan County and grateful to the organizations and individuals who helped make the dream of homeownership a reality.
