Pedestrian Killed in Hickory Crash on 1st Avenue SW

The Hickory Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred Wednesday evening in Hickory.

Officers responded just before 7:30 p.m. on March 4 to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on 1st Avenue SW near 12th Street SW.

Authorities say the pedestrian, 59-year-old Nathaniel Wilson of Hickory, was attempting to cross from the south side of 1st Avenue SW when he was struck by a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling in the right lane.

Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of Thursday, March 5, investigators say no charges have been filed in connection with the crash.
