Statesville residents are invited to brave the cold and make a difference next month by taking part in the Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Iredell County.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Statesville Leisure Pool. Participants can register as individuals or form teams to raise money in support of local Special Olympics athletes.
Organizers say the Polar Plunge is about more than jumping into cold water. The fundraiser highlights the courage and determination of individuals with intellectual disabilities, who face challenges daily both in sports and in life. Proceeds from the event help fund year-round sports training, athletic competitions, leadership development opportunities, and health services for Special Olympics athletes across Iredell County.
Those interested in participating can begin fundraising and find more information through the City of Statesville Parks and Recreation website.
Community members are encouraged to get involved, support local athletes, and take the plunge for a great cause.
