Statesville, NC — A sudden sprinkler system failure at 5th Street Ministries today caused significant flooding in the organization’s Family Room wing, forcing the closure of six family rooms used by parents and young children, including toddlers as young as 2 years old.

The flooding has also delayed the opening of a brand-new 15-bed dorm that the ministry was just weeks away from launching. Officials say repairs will take several months, and insurance coverage alone will not cover the full cost of restoring these essential spaces.

Leaders at 5th Street Ministries are asking for community support to help repair the damage and reopen the Family Room wing, which provides meals, shelter, and safe spaces for families in need.

“We need help so that families can come home again,” said a ministry spokesperson. “Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to restoring these spaces and serving the community.”

Those interested in helping can contact 5th Street Ministries directly to donate or volunteer.
