Deputies with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men in separate incidents last week on drug and related charges.

On February 6, 2026, deputies arrested Reuben David Barnes, 38, of Taylorsville. Barnes was charged with one count of maintaining a dwelling to keep or sell a controlled substance, two counts of possession of methamphetamine, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

On February 9, 2026, deputies arrested Caleb Levi Garland, 38, of Statesville. Garland was charged with possession of methamphetamine, domestic criminal trespass, violation of a domestic violence protective order, failure to appear for driving while license revoked, and failure to appear for failure to maintain lane.

Garland is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond on the drug charge, a 48-hour hold on the domestic-related offenses, and a $1,000 secured bond on the failure-to-appear charges. His first court appearance is scheduled for February 16, 2026.

All charges are allegations, and both men are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
