Statesville Woman Arrested on Felony Obstruction and Fugitive Charges

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A Statesville woman is facing multiple charges, including felony obstruction and fugitive status, following her arrest on March 31, 2026.


According to records, 47-year-old Misty Dawn Mortenson of Brevard Street in Statesville was taken into custody by the Conover Police Department.


Mortenson has been charged with felony obstructing justice and is also being held on extradition as a fugitive from another state.


She was issued a $75,000 secured bond on the obstruction charge and is scheduled to appear in Newton District Court on April 21, 2026. The extradition case is set for April 30, 2026, also in Newton District Court.


Authorities have not released additional details regarding the out-of-state charges.
