A Statesville woman is behind bars after Hickory police say she was found in possession of fentanyl.
Hickory Police Officers arrested Briann Alysha Buchholz, 31, later today on January 20. Authorities say Buchholz, who lists an address on South Miller Avenue in Statesville, is charged with possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers took Buchholz into custody without incident. She was transported to the Catawba County Detention Facility, where she was booked under a $2,500 secured bond.
Court records show Buchholz is scheduled to appear in District Court later today.
The arrest comes as law enforcement agencies across the region continue to warn about the dangers of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid linked to a growing number of overdoses and drug-related deaths.
The case remains pending in District Court.
