Storm-Related Crash Kills Driver in Statesville

An elderly man was killed Monday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Iredell County as strong storms moved through the region.

According to investigators, the crash happened along Interstate 40 in Statesville around mid-morning. Authorities identified the driver as 78-year-old Lee Glover. Troopers said the vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned multiple times.

Officials reported that Glover was pronounced dead at the scene. A front-seat passenger was injured and taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said speed for the weather conditions contributed to the crash. Storms were moving through the area at the time, and authorities urged drivers to use caution during severe weather.

The investigation remains ongoing.
