Iredell County Government has announced the appointment of Kevin Aube as the new County Fire Marshal, bringing nearly 20 years of fire service experience and a proven record in fire prevention and emergency response.
Aube has served as Assistant Fire Marshal for Mooresville Fire & Rescue since 2021, following previous roles with Cabarrus County Emergency Services, the City of Kannapolis Fire Department, and Rowan County Emergency Services. Over his career, he has conducted 115 fire investigations and earned multiple state and national certifications in fire investigation, fire prevention, hazardous materials, emergency medical response, and incident management.
He holds an associate’s degree in fire protection technology from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and advanced credentials including IAAI Certified Fire Investigator, IAAI Evidence Collection Technician, NC Certified Fire Investigator, and NC Fire Prevention Inspector Level III. Aube also serves as a contract instructor for the National Fire Academy and is active in several professional fire service organizations.
In his new role, Aube will oversee fire code enforcement, fire investigations, life safety education, and development review, collaborating with local fire departments, businesses, and community partners to strengthen public safety across Iredell County.
“Kevin’s depth of experience, professionalism, and commitment to community safety make him an exceptional choice for Fire Marshal,” said Director of Public Safety Daryl Conley. “His investigative expertise and leadership in fire prevention will greatly benefit our county as we continue to enhance our fire and life safety programs.”
Aube succeeds David Souther, who retired on January 30 after more than 20 years of service to Iredell County.
