DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. — A Winston-Salem woman is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation into fraudulent withdrawals from an elderly Davie County woman’s bank account.

According to the Davie County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report on February 27, 2026, regarding suspicious activity involving an elderly victim’s bank account. Family members reportedly discovered numerous ATM withdrawals in early February that the victim would not have been capable of completing.

Investigators say the transactions occurred at ATM locations in Davie County and Winston-Salem. Family members also told deputies they suspected the victim’s caretaker may have been responsible for the missing funds.

Detectives obtained surveillance footage from Wells Fargo through a search warrant and, after an extensive investigation, identified 41-year-old Tiffany Monque Smith of Winston-Salem as the suspect in the fraudulent transactions.

Smith has been charged with:

  • 10 Counts of Felony Identity Theft

  • 10 Counts of Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretense

  • 7 Counts of Felony Financial Card Fraud

  • 3 Counts of Misdemeanor Financial Card Fraud

  • 1 Count of Financial Card Theft

  • 1 Count of Felony Exploitation of a Disabled or Elder Adult in a Position of Trust

Authorities say Smith was arrested by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office on May 9, 2026. She received a $60,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Davie County District Court on May 20, 2026.

Smith is currently being held at the Davie County Detention Center.
