A man was arrested during a checkpoint in Iredell County after deputies say they found methamphetamine in his vehicle.
According to Darren Campbell, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff's Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team were conducting a motor vehicle checkpoint Monday, March 9, at the intersection of River Hill Road and Wooten Farm Road.
Authorities say 53-year-old Dwayne Edward Stanley approached the checkpoint and told deputies his driver’s license had been revoked, providing an identification card instead.
While speaking with Stanley, Deputy W. Wiedenmann observed behavior that raised concern and conducted a brief investigation. Deputies then searched the vehicle.
During that search, deputies say they found three small plastic bags containing crystal methamphetamine along with a glass pipe commonly used for smoking meth.
Stanley was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he appeared before a magistrate. He was issued no bond on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
