Construction continues to move forward on the Statesville Police Department expansion and parking deck project, with crews making steady progress despite recent winter weather delays.

City officials say exterior work has been impacted by colder conditions, but the current plan calls for Tradd Street to reopen by mid-March.

Inside the police department expansion area, demolition work and rough-in installation for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are ongoing. Crews also planned to pour the second portion of the post-tension slab on February 24, marking another key milestone in the construction process.

Work is also advancing on the project’s new parking deck. Officials report that underground piping has been completed and crews are beginning slab preparation for the lower level.

Additional progress includes completed pour backs, stair handrails that are approximately 90 percent finished, and installation of conduit for the building’s elevator system.

The expansion and parking deck project is designed to provide additional space and improved infrastructure for the police department as the city continues to grow.
