A Hamptonville woman is facing multiple felony drug charges following a larceny call early Sunday morning in Mocksville.
According to the Davie County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at approximately 12:31 a.m. on February 16, 2026, to a reported larceny in progress at the Sheetz located at 1449 Yadkinville Road.
When deputies arrived, they made contact with two individuals inside the store. During the investigation, authorities encountered 36-year-old Lauren Ashley Watson of the 2000 block of Seagraves Road in Hamptonville. Deputies say Watson initially provided a false name to law enforcement. Further investigation revealed her true identity and uncovered two outstanding orders for arrest from Yadkin County.
When deputies attempted to take Watson into custody, she reportedly resisted by pulling away and acting as if she was going to kick at officers. Deputies were able to safely secure her in handcuffs.
A subsequent search of Watson’s person allegedly revealed two plastic bags containing methamphetamine.
Watson was charged with felony identity theft, felony possession of fentanyl, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine, trafficking in methamphetamine, resisting a public officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also served with the two outstanding orders for arrest from Yadkin County.
Bond was set at $150,000 for the Davie County charges and $7,500 for the Yadkin County charges, for a combined total of $157,500. Watson is scheduled to appear in Davie County District Court on February 26, 2026.
A male subject who was also present at the scene was released without charges.
