Iredell County, NC — A winter snowstorm that moved through the area on Saturday left measurable snow across Iredell County and forced all area schools to close as hazardous conditions continued into the week.
Snow began Saturday and accumulated throughout the day, leaving around 7 inches of snow in Statesville and similarly significant totals in other parts of Iredell County. Nearby Troutman recorded as much as 8–12 inches, while Mooresville saw around 9–11 inches of snow, according to regional snowfall reports.
In response to the snowy and icy roads, Iredell-Statesville Schools announced the closure of all schools for Monday, with in-person classes and all school activities canceled to keep students and staff safe. Officials said transportation conditions remain unsafe in many areas due to lingering snow and ice.
County road crews and emergency management teams have been out clearing major thoroughfares and responding to weather-related issues, but many secondary roads remain slick and difficult to navigate.
Residents are urged to use caution if travel is necessary, as roadways may continue to be hazardous. The snowfall follows other recent bouts of wintry weather in the region, adding to ongoing cleanup efforts.
As conditions evolve, the school district and local authorities will monitor forecasts and provide updates on reopening plans and any additional closures.
