A Statesville man is among three suspects arrested following a break-in that was interrupted by a homeowner in northern Iredell County.
According to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell, deputies responded Tuesday, April 7, 2026, to a reported breaking and entering in progress on White Oak Branch Road.
The homeowner told authorities they came face-to-face with a suspect who was actively stealing items and loading them into a pickup truck. When confronted, the suspect—described as wearing camouflage—ran into a nearby wooded area.
Deputies quickly secured the scene and established a perimeter. Additional resources, including detectives, crime scene investigators, K-9 units, and a drone, were deployed to search for the suspect.
During the search, a nearby resident reported seeing two suspicious individuals emerge from the woods near Old Mocksville Road. Deputies located Adam Steven High and Candice Marie Daniel, both covered in mud. High matched the description of the suspect seen at the home.
As the investigation continued, detectives gathered evidence linking both individuals to the break-in. A third suspect, identified as 46-year-old Michael Ray Elam of 138 Coolwood Drive in Statesville, was also connected to the case.
High was arrested at the scene and is being held without bond due to being on pretrial release for similar offenses. Daniel appeared before Magistrate Thompson and was given a $15,000 secured bond. Elam was later located, arrested, and placed under a $10,000 secured bond.
All three suspects are charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering.
