Iredell County Strategy and Communications Manager Darsee Heath has been honored with two Excellence in Communications awards from the North Carolina City & County Communicators for the county’s work in public outreach and internal communications.
The awards were announced April 9 during NC3C’s annual conference in Beaufort, where government communication professionals from across the state gathered to recognize outstanding work.
Iredell County received second place in the Digital Employee Newsletter category for the Iredell County Circle, which serves as a key part of the county’s internal communications strategy. The county also earned third place in the Branding and Logo category for large population counties for its newly developed brand guidelines, designed to create a consistent visual identity across both digital and print materials.
County Manager Beth M. Milton praised Heath’s contributions since joining the county in early 2025.
“Since joining the County in early 2025, Darsee has done a wonderful job bringing our communications efforts front and center. From photography to design to digital and print pieces, she is constantly creating diverse and branded ways to connect with our citizens,” Milton said.
This year’s competition drew a record 266 entries, judged by communications professionals from the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators. A total of 39 North Carolina jurisdictions received awards.
NC3C President Adam Gaub said the competition continues to become more challenging each year as local governments across North Carolina expand their communication efforts.
County officials say the recognition highlights Iredell County’s ongoing commitment to improving how it connects with employees and residents throughout the community.
