A months-long investigation into a vehicle break-in at a Davie County storage facility has led to the arrest of a Rural Hall man, according to Sheriff J.D. Hartman.

Deputies were initially called on March 25, 2026, to Premier Storage Solutions on Farmington Road after a victim reported that the passenger-side front window of his Chevrolet Tahoe had been shattered. As investigators began looking into the incident, they reviewed surveillance footage from the facility, which revealed the break-in had actually occurred more than a month earlier, on February 16.

Authorities say the video footage played a key role in identifying the suspect as 48-year-old Michael Wayne Goins, of the 600 block of Woodbriar Path in Rural Hall. Investigators observed the suspect arriving at the scene in what appeared to be a late 1990s to early 2000s model Toyota Camry. The vehicle was described as having visible body damage and a distinctive yellow ratchet strap attached to the trunk lid.

Based on the evidence gathered, deputies obtained felony warrants charging Goins with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.

On April 13, 2026, the Davie County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Winston-Salem Police Department that Goins had been located and the outstanding warrant had been served. He was taken into custody and placed in the Forsyth County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.

Goins is scheduled to appear in Davie County District Court on May 7, 2026. The investigation remains ongoing.
