Man Killed, Two Injured in Hickory Shooting; Suspect Charged with Murder

Police in Hickory are investigating a Friday night shooting that left one man dead and two others injured.


According to the Hickory Police Department, officers responded around 8:50 p.m. on March 13 to reports of a shooting on 2nd Street Court Southwest. When officers arrived, they found 36-year-old Donnie Morgan of Hickory dead from an apparent gunshot wound.


Two additional victims were also struck by gunfire during the incident. The victims, residents of Hickory and Conover, were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.


Police identified 28-year-old Melvin Ramseur as the suspect in the shooting. Ramseur was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

He is currently being held without bond at the Catawba County Detention Facility.
