A 20-year-old woman reported missing on March 5 says she is safe and left her home voluntarily.
The Mooresville Police Department previously asked for the public’s help locating Semaya Frazier, who authorities said left her home on March 1 after going outside to take out the trash and running toward a white vehicle waiting down the road.
On March 7, WAME News spoke directly with Frazier by phone. She confirmed her identity and said she is safe.
Frazier said she had already contacted authorities to let them know she was safe and that she left home voluntarily. “I called a ride and got in it,” she said. “I left because I couldn’t take anymore.”
After the police alert, social media comments on the police statement appeared under the name “Semaya Viacent.” During the call with WAME News, Frazier confirmed she wrote the messages and said she stands by them.
She alleged that she had previously sought help from authorities about issues at home, but said she felt her concerns were not addressed. WAME News has not independently verified those allegations.
Public records show a 2023 legal filing in the Iredell County Clerk of Superior Court involving an incompetency proceeding between Darlene Frazier and Semaya Diamond Frazier. Court records show the case was filed April 19, 2023, and later marked “granted in whole or part” and closed May 16, 2023. Semaya told WAME News that Darlene Frazier adopted her.
Semaya declined to share her current location but said she is staying somewhere she feels safe. “I want people to know I’m okay,” she said. She told WAME News that she left a voicemail message for the detective.
