MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A Lincolnton man has been arrested following an investigation by the Mooresville Police Department into alleged online communications with a minor.

According to police, officers arrested Michael Wilson Lesswing, 55, on January 22, 2026, on charges of solicitation of a child by electronic device and solicitation of prostitution of a minor.

Investigators say the case revealed that Lesswing used an electronic communication device to engage in inappropriate and unlawful communication with a minor. Police allege the suspect arranged to meet the minor at a predetermined location for sexual activity.

When Lesswing arrived at that location, officers took him into custody without incident. Detectives say the arrest followed an investigation in which officers identified the suspect and gathered evidence leading to the charges.

Lesswing was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was placed under a $150,000 secured bond. Police say the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be pending.

The Mooresville Police Department said crimes against children are taken seriously and emphasized its commitment to protecting the safety and well-being of the community’s youth.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to closely monitor their children’s online activity and report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact the Mooresville Police Department at 704-664-3311.

All charges are allegations. Lesswing is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
