CHARLOTTE, NC — A Mooresville man is among five convicted felons sentenced to prison in federal firearms cases, according to U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson.
The cases are part of the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s ongoing effort under Operation Take Back America, targeting repeat offenders who illegally possess firearms.
Timothy Demetrius Williams, 35, of Mooresville, was sentenced to 70 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
Authorities say on August 15, 2024, officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department found Williams in possession of a stolen Glock 43X 9mm handgun. The firearm was loaded with 10 rounds, including one in the chamber.
Investigators determined the weapon had been reported stolen. Williams, who has a prior felony conviction in Florida, also pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen firearm.
Four other individuals were also sentenced in separate cases involving illegal firearm possession.
Federal officials say these prosecutions are part of a broader effort to reduce violent crime by removing illegal firearms and repeat offenders from the streets.
