Piedmont HealthCare Names New Director of Value-Based Care

Piedmont HealthCare has announced the return of Kellyn Bell as its new Director of Value-Based Care, bringing more than a decade of previous experience with the organization.

Bell previously spent 11 years with Piedmont HealthCare, most recently serving as Director of Clinical Services and earlier as Manager of Population Health. During that time, she also led the organization’s care coordination department, helping develop a more connected and patient-centered approach to healthcare.

In her new position, Bell will oversee Piedmont HealthCare’s value-based care strategy, leading teams focused on quality outcomes, care coordination, and performance across payer partnerships. Officials say she will work closely with physician leadership, health plans, and internal staff to improve operations, support growth, and advance care models aimed at improving patient outcomes while managing costs.

“Kellyn brings a rare combination of clinical insight, operational experience, and genuine care for our patients and providers,” said Joy Durham, Chief Operating Officer of Piedmont HealthCare. “She understands this organization, our community, and the direction we are headed.”

Bell has been a registered nurse for 17 years and says her background in population health and clinical services has shaped her patient-focused approach.

“Working in population health and clinical services at PHC gave me experience seeing what patients need and how care comes together,” Bell said. “That taught me the value of coordinating care and building strong community connections.”

A longtime resident of Iredell County, Bell said her ties to the local community continue to inspire her work.

Bell says her goal is to strengthen support for both patients and providers by helping ensure patients are connected with the right care and resources throughout their healthcare journey.
