Construction is continuing on both the downtown Parking Deck and the Statesville Police Department Expansion, despite recent winter weather impacting work schedules. City officials say crews are making steady progress as conditions allow, though cold temperatures and weather delays are expected to continue affecting the pace of construction.

At the Parking Deck site, crews are completing concrete pour backs on the second and third floors and continuing exterior caulking when weather conditions are suitable. Stormwater drainage installation beneath the slab is nearing completion, and underground electrical work is currently being backfilled. Masonry work is scheduled to resume as temperatures permit.

In the coming weeks, work at the Parking Deck will shift to additional electrical and plumbing installations, improvements to stair towers, grading for slab-on-grade areas, and framing of the elevator lobby.

Progress is also being made on the Statesville Police Department Expansion. Crews are finalizing roof drainage tie-ins and installing shoring in preparation for the next phase of the post-tension slab. Framing has begun for the new 911 Call Center, marking a significant milestone in the project.

Additional work planned in the weeks ahead includes structural connections and interior wall installation as the expansion continues to take shape.

City officials say updates will continue to be shared as construction progresses on both projects.
