A Raleigh-based chocolate company has expanded a nationwide recall involving several of its chocolate products due to concerns over possible salmonella contamination.

Spring & Mulberry announced the voluntary recall after routine testing indicated a potential risk associated with certain chocolate bars. The recall initially involved a single product, but was later expanded to include multiple flavors produced using the same equipment during the same time period.

The recalled chocolates were sold nationwide through online orders and select retailers beginning in the fall of 2025. According to federal food safety officials, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the products as of the latest update.

Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause serious illness, particularly in young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, infection can lead to more severe complications.

Consumers who have purchased Spring & Mulberry chocolate bars are urged not to consume the affected products. Customers are advised to check packaging for brand name, flavor, and lot information to determine whether their chocolate is included in the recall. The company says affected products should be disposed of and that customers may contact Spring & Mulberry directly for refund or replacement information.

The recall serves as a reminder for consumers to stay alert to food safety notices and regularly check recall alerts, even when no illnesses have been reported.
